About Us
The Special District Association of Riverside County (SDARC), a dynamic local chapter of the California Special Districts Association (CSDA), plays a pivotal role in supporting, advocating for, and representing the diverse special districts across Riverside County. SDRAC’s Board is led by a group of experienced General Managers and staff from various districts. SDARC is at the forefront of championing the interests of these vital community organizationsthrough collaboration and by ensuring that the needs and priorities of local districts are heard and effectively addressed.

SDARC was created to provide a unified voice for the special districts in Riverside County. These districts often operate independently from cities and counties but serve crucial functions for local communities. The association's main goals are to offer advocacy, resources, and professional development for the districts. The association helps its members stay informed about state and federal legislation affecting special districts. It also serves as a platform for networking and sharing best practices among district leaders. Through advocacy, SDARC works to protect the interests of local districts and ensure that they are represented in broader political and policy discussions.
SDARC offers education through conferences, workshops, and training programs. These events help special district staff and elected officials stay updated on important regulatory changes, governance best practices, and emerging trends in local government. Over time, SDARC has grown to represent a broad range of districts across Riverside County, including those involved in water, sanitation, parks and recreation, fire protection, and other specialized services. Riverside County itself is large and diverse, so SDARC plays an essential role in helping special districts navigate the unique challenges posed by the region’s size and population. Unlike statewide associations, SDARC focuses specifically on the needs and issues facing special districts in Riverside County, which includes urban and rural communities. By focusing on local issues, SDARC has been able to tailor its advocacy efforts and resources to the specific needs of the districts it serves.
